Violin Repertoire Database

Very Useful Violin Database" - Work in Progress -

Purpose: This is a database for Violin students. One
day, it will contain all violin pieces (for now it has just the ones I like)
The database contains a difficulty level grading field. ie. If you are Grade
4 standard, you can quickly find all the pieces at your level.
It's free, so just use it and
send me
a note if you find it useful or have some information to add!
Below: Here are the fields as I see them
From left to right:
A Number = Just the number of the entry; no significance
Composer = Who wrote it
Title = The Name of the piece
From = What Album or larger work is the piece taken from; sometimes the
Opus (Op.) number
Edition = Who publishes the sheet music (and their catalogue number, if
known)
Grade = Average Grade I think the work is (as near as possible.. some
pieces span grades 4-6 for example)
List_1 = When the piece was set for a Graded exam (AB = Associated board)
List_2 = When the piece was set for a Graded exam (then there is Trinity
College, Guildhall School, Trinity Guildhall)
Use = General category (not yet defined)
Type = Genre or style of composition; Main types are Concerto, Etude
(Study), Encore, Sonata, Scales
CD = If accompaniment CD is available and the name of it (DOWani, Music
Partner, MMO, Barbara Barber etc.)
Stars = How good the piece is in terms of developing a students' playing
(eg. Mozart Concerto #1 at grade 6 is a waste of time)
Rec = Commercial recording available of the work
Invent = If I have it or not
Notes = Anything from where to download the music to who arranged it or
exam particulars

Note: It is built with Microsoft Works and the exported format is comma separated value (.csv) database
Note: Oxygene Office (fancy version of Open Office which is free) can easily
import this database
