Sun 30th 11am Busy here as everyone registers for the last chance, and the draw is being read out as I type. Earlier on Carter quickly took the Individual 8 player auction; 6 UK players and 2 Danes. The 3rd round was filmed / recorded / and streamed last night, as a test for todays final. Please follow the link I quickly pasted near the top of the BSO_2009 main page.

Sun 30th 02:00am Well, Mochy’s seminar went down a treat; 50 in the audience glued like magnets to the brilliant World Champion’s wise words of wisdom. A great seminar…. “that alone was worth the registration fee” said one player. We will reproduce the seminar here; an mp3 audio recording and all the supporting files to download. On to some results; the Championship quarter finalists are Malcolm Robertson, Mikael Jensen, Martin Barkwill, Nicky Check, Lawrence Powell, Rachel Rhodes, Michael Malmros and Sean Williams: 6 UK players. In the consolation is still Raj Jansari, Brian Lever, Michael Sorensen. Advanced flight in main ; semi-finalists = Steve Ferrer, Ali Simeri, Carlos Madrid and Ann Pocknell….

Sat 29th 14:40 Well, we have at this moment 100 players busy playing backgammon ; Championship div. has 64 players in it. Advanced has 26 players and Intermediates have 10 players. I’ve just dashed around to take some photos, and now I will observe some matches. One or two no shows in the Championship main were filled by players on the standby list. Everyone got into their category of choice… the auction was taken brilliantly by Carter Mattig, the draws all done, and everyone is busy shaking dice and tapping their clocks ! Some Championship draws ; Mark Dixon drew Mochy / Raj Jansari vs. Katja Spillum / Julian Fetterlein vs. Michael Jensen / Philip Vischjager vs. Julian Wilson (who got in via the standby list). 6 players including Ann Pocknell and Tony Fawcett, got byes in the advanced, and the Intermediates are doing a round robin. One thing to look forward to tonight @ 9 pm right before poker is a seminar prepared by Mochy (I helped proof read it this morning before doing the food shopping with Carrie to feed 100 hungry backgammon players !

Fri 28th 10 pm Felix Vink we have been told is not coming, and David McNamara is downgrading to advanced tomorrow. This means Standby n1 Wayne Felton (We’ve left a message !) and n2 Hans Capel are in !

Fri 28th 9pm : Here we are setting up at the artillery grounds. I’ve been taking registrations this evening; 20 champs have registered, 10 advanced and there are 4 players on the standby list. The warm up had 31 players in it… Rosey Bensley and Kevin Jones are the first 2 quarter finalists. Mini jackpots have started, and there may be some satellites starting soon for those on the championship list. Everything on track !

Fri 28th Aug 12:00 noon : The Madness has begun at the Herrera's Home ; 10 guests from Japan, USA, Australia, Norway & Denmark. Half arrived yesterday and the other half are in the process of arriving ! Tournament preps are going well, but Ian had an early start with a Radio Interview at BBC Bristol, and then they phoned me twice to ask if I could do a 6:40 am interview tomorrow morning... nope I'm sleeping... so I'll do it @ 8:55am. I also did a Bristol 24/7 interview on the phone yesterday ; but it'll be awkward to squeeze another one in half an hour before registration tomorrow ! Yep, busy means busy... so let's skip lunch to print out the quiz for Mochy's seminar now; and if I could also find my own little quiz (with £1 entry) I prepared for rainy days 2 weeks ago....

Thu 27th Aug 19:00 : Jesus first to turn up yesterday and today Michi. We lost Mochy around 8 pm then suddenly Simo found him at the Coach station. Got everyone home via the Bristol BG Club, and around 10pm Mark Dixon turns up to give us (including WC Mochy) tips on averaging your pip count ! We saw some mind boggling positions while our Japanese guests were trying to stay awake as long as possible to beat the jet lag, but eventually Michi fell asleep, and I gave Mochy a demo of my HiFi. Jesus and Simo made some bread to feed everyone ! I eventually got to sleep after printing out pages of tournament info and sheets on registrations / auction and rules.
